Top Interview Tips for Chemical Engineering Students

Top Interview Tips for Chemical Engineering Students

“How do I stand out in Engineering Consultancy job interviews?”  This is a frequent question at college events and we’ve recently been engaging with Chemical Engineering students from all over the UK to help answer it!

The Chem Eng students we met at Loughborough University’s Frank Morton sports day were keen to hear about our IChemE accredited Next Graduate Programme and about the exciting projects that our teams are working on with clients such as GSK, AstraZeneca, Cadbury and others.

We also recently conducted mock interviews with Chemical and Process students at London South Bank University Chemical & Petroleum School’s Employability Day.

So here are our Top 3 tips for job interview success:

  • Be enthusiastic and build a rapport with your interviewer – Not only will this help make the process more relaxed, it will also show that you can fit in with the company.
  • Be prepared – Ensure your approach is fine tuned for the role and research your potential employer thoroughly.
  • Highlight your soft skills as well as technical skills – Your Chem Eng qualification will prove your technical prowess, but ensure you demonstrate your all-round employability skills too.

We’ll be at Coventry University’s Engineering Careers Fair on 1st March.  Be sure to say hello and find out about our exciting opportunities for UK graduates across a range of disciplines.

We’re currently accepting applications for our 2017 Next Graduate Programme intake in the UK. Apply now!
